More info

The British consul to Mozambique, Elton spent considerable time fighting the slave trade in the region. He explored the region around Lake Nyassa and enjoyed considerable sport after elephant, hippopotamus, impala, eland, black rhinoceros and buffalo. His descriptions of hunting with his two rifles, Big Henry and Little Henry, are particularly vivid. During his return to the coast, he contracted fever and died. His journals were arranged, edited and completed by his hunting companion, H.B. Cotterill. Czech.
