Percival was entrusted with the attacks on the Dutch forces at Wynberg and Muizenberg, both with success. He then led the British forces into Cape Town, where he remained until 1797. This work was penned on his return home in 1804 and is an interesting account of Geography, Productions, the Manners and Customs of its Inhabitants, and was warmly praised at the time. His severely criticised the Dutch settlers and especially of their cruelty to the natives, their laziness, inhospitality, and low standards of living. French text.
