The Selfish Giant

The selfish giant won't allow children to play in his garden. When he builds a high wall around it, winter moves in permanently and it is not until many years later, when the children creep back into the garden, that life is restored. Oscar Wilde told this story to his own children in 1888 and it has since become a children's classic.
