David Coulson made a number of trips to the Namib over a 15-year period and kept diaries of his experiences. He describes the re-ochred nomads of Kaokoland, the wild thoroughbred horses of Garub, the unique reptiles of the sand dunes, eerie nights spent camping in ghost towns and on the shipwrecks which rear out of the dunes and exploring long-abandoned diamond towns.
