Edited from official material. In contrast to German East Africa, where General Lettow-Vorbeck led a guerrilla war against the invaders until the end of World War I, German South-West Africa was conquered within a year by South African troops under General Botha. The author describes in great detail the course of the military operations that led to the conquest of the former German colony, and he describes the reasons for the rapid German defeat.
