How Free Are You?

How are minds connected to brains? Or rather, how are mental events connected to neural events? How is your thinking or awareness now, as you read this very sentence, related to what is going on in your brain? If you choose to stop now and do something else, maybe your duty, how is the choosing related to what is going on in your brain? That is the best and hardest question in the philosophy of mind. Little industries of philosophers and psychologists have been engaged in examining, rejecting, propounding and being confused by answers to it. It is also one question at the centre of determinism and freedom.
