More info

The first play, Kuyanoka Stink for us all, dates from 1990, when South Africa was on the cusp of a shift to a negotiated and 'new' dispensation, while Koropa was written and performed in 1996 in the era of Reconstruction and Development and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The last play in the trilogy, Shoeville, was written in 2002. All three works (which are also performed by the multi-talented writer and director) are set in Sharpeville, which is where Diniso lives, and the historical significance of this township as a locus of resistance to state oppression gives the collection an additional edge.
