In his second work on photographing and hunting game in East Africa, Schillings captures the essence of the African landscape and its peoples with his brilliant, early snapshots. The first volume concerns a general view of the region, with a brief history of the encroachment of civilisation on the African wild, and an interesting if oddly placed chapter on sport and nature in Germany. Volume two includes chapters on hunting elephant, rhinoceros and lion, with additional sport after leopard, eland and other antelope.
