Eddie Webster, sociologist and emeritus professor at the Southern Centre for Inequality Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand was an intellectual, a teacher, a leader, an activist for social change, a builder of institutions, and a man of great energy and integrity. As an intellectual and activist he was independent and critical, who said it was important to get your hands dirty working for change, but as important to retain your autonomy and intellectual integrity. Eddie saw the world in new ways and pioneered the production of new knowledge with his close colleague, feminist and environmental sociologist Jacklyn Cock, anthropologist and democratic activist David Webster (assassinated in 1989), and distinguished historian Phil Bonner. Softcover. English. Ravan Press. 1983. ISBN: 9780869750858. 248 pp. Good. Book No: 2003251
